Operating Scissors
Operating scissors are general-purpose surgical scissors used to cut tissue, sutures, dressings and other materials in the operating room and on the ward. They are among the most basic instruments in any surgical set. Grey Medical manufactures operating scissors in surgical-grade stainless steel as part of our surgical scissors range.
Tip Combinations Explained
Operating scissors are described by the shape of their two tips:
- Sharp/Sharp: both tips are pointed, for fine cutting and reaching into small spaces.
- Blunt/Sharp: one blunt and one pointed tip, the most versatile option. The blunt tip protects tissue while the sharp tip cuts precisely.
- Blunt/Blunt: both tips are rounded, for safe cutting near tissue or when cutting dressings and sutures close to the skin.
